ABOUT SABEF
The South African Black Entrepreneurs Forum (SABEF) is a non-racial, Broad-based BEE organisation (Association Incorporated under Section21 No: 2002/012592/08) whose mission is to promote, inspire and grow entrepreneurship as the source of poverty alleviation, job creation and economic growth in South Africa. SABEF's intention for this website is to provide an open and convivial atmosphere that will allow you to get to know this organisation better, and as a result, become more familiar with the values we deliver.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN SABEF   
Through a unique blend of integrated annual programmes, SABEF promotes the interests of its Independent Network Partners or INPs (member SMMEs), by:

  • Encouraging an enabling business environment and proper utilization of resources by all our stakeholders.

STRUCTURES OF SABEF   
  •  The Local Unit is the basic unit of SABEF in a region, where member SMMEs take part in SABEF activities, discussions  and action on economic participation of the local community (e.g. Soweto) in the corporate projects presented by local government and big business operating in that particular community and region (e.g Johannesburg). The Local Chairperson is elected at a Local Conference each year to represent local community at the Regional Leadership Committee.
  •  The Regional Coordinator is elected at a Regional Conference each year by all the Local Chairperson from the Local Units in a region. The Regional Coordinator ensures that the local communities has a direct access to opportunities presented by the region and represents the region at the Provincial Leadership Committee.
  •  The Provincial Coordinator is elected at a Provincial Conference each year by all the Regional Chairperson from the regions in a province. The Provincial Coordinator is the head of the SABEF Provincial Branch (e.g. Small Business Infranstructure Hub) and reports all activities of the local communities and regions to the National Coordinator. 
  •  The National Coordinator seats at and report back to the Executive Leadership Committee of SABEF at the Head Office. Other members of the Executive Leadership Committee are appointed by the Board Directors and Advisors from time to time. The Executive Leadership Committee is the highest unit of SABEF and has the responsibility to lead the organization and ensure the successful delivery of SABEF Development and Networking Programmes. 

COMMUNITY AFFILIATIONS
SABEF play a vital role in multi-sector partnerships and giving voice to the small enterprises, mobilising resources and collective action. SABEF is in partnership with community structures such as the chambers and local businesss associations. These organisations have their own constitution, membership and programmes. The partnership is formed on a common commitment to the objectives of the Broad-based BEE policy, and the need to achieve faster and better economic development and job creation results in South Africa.


THE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE 
The two-tier role of the Executive Leadership Committee of SABEF is, firstly, to discuss and define strategies aimed at improving the enabling business environment for SMMEs in South Africa, and secondly, to adopt the corresponding action plans to insure their implementation


Mr. Lebo Gunguluza, the President of SABEF
 
has an extensive experience in communication and media having consulted as National Director of Media Communications for membership-driven organisations such as Nafcoc and the Institute for Local Government Management (iLGM). Mr. Gunguluza career started at SABC where he was responsible for promoting the African Language stations, and later Metro FM. He then left for a broadcasting course in the United States, and came back to join Herdbouys Advertising. 

In 2002, Mr. Gunguluza founded the GEM Group which has since diversified to various investment portfolios including publishing, television, restaurants, hotels and property. He is also the Principal Consultant of the Local Government Business Network. Mr. Mfundo McDonald Piti is the Strategy Director
of the South African Black Entrepreneurs Forum (SABEF) and the Group Chairman of Saphupha Group Companies – the publisher of GrassrootFocus magazine. Latching on the success of its multimedia business, the group has since expanded its operations into diverse portfolio of premium brands such as Cotel's; Milko; Canwell's; Freggo's; Clins; Collan's; GrainMeal; Fruito; Nunu's; Bresto; Sanfield; SauceValley; Softouche and FineFlavar, along with the group's flagship WealthStore brand.

 
Saphupha Group Companies seeks to invest in underperforming mass-market enterprises with high growth potential, then exercise solid brand activation coupled with strong management to achieve enormous profit returns. The group is headquartered in Sandton with operations in the township and rural nodes. Mr. Piti shapes and approves SABEF's strategies, reviews results, serves as the trustee of the organisation's key entities, and helps set the overall direction of the organisation.
 

Mr. Andre Pietersen, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) has accumulated a wealth of experience in all avenues of entrepreneur and enterprise development. A serial entrepreneur, Andre is currently the MD of Destiny Ventures International that operate in a range of industries including enterprise development, telemarketing, technology, marketing and consulting services.

Starting out his career as a market analyst for the FMCG markets and working on a range of leading brands including Unilever, Colgate and Tiger Brands; Andre later moved on to become a consultant on enterprise development and self sustainable strategies for NGO’s.  Passionate about helping entrepreneurs unlocking their potential, Andre has dedicated his business life to developing business and economic models that will assist aspiring businessmen and women in fulfilling their God given destinies. Mr Pietersen’s role within SABEF is to develop and manage operational structures and ensure the financial sustainabilityof the organisation.



Ms. Lebo Pule, Director - Corporate Affairs  is a social entrepreneur, a personal development coach and a gender activist. Her passion is influencing positive change in people and in organizations. Miss. Pule started her career at First National Bank and in 2002 she founded her own business supplying office furniture and alterations for both Government departments and Corporate clients. 

Miss Pule's passion to helping others lead her to giving inspirational talks nationwide and driving SABEF’s efforts to alleviate poverty and increase
access to opportunities for the emerging black entrepreneurs in South Africa. At SABEF, she leads a development programmes team that builds strategic partnerships with public and private sector in four crucial elements of Broad-based BEE namely Ownership, Skills Development, Preferential Procurement and Enterprise Development to help incubates and finance small enterprises through Seed and Growth Capital phases of development. She is also responsible for Corporate Membership and Sponsorship of our networking programmes.

 

 

Mr. Themba Mogane, Director - Youth Development and Support joined SABEF in 2009 and has considerable experience in youth work having been a Strategic Planner for the Local Business Council and Gauteng Youth Organisation. Mr. Mogane started his career as a Program Assistant at Centre of Employment and Entrepreneurship Development and later he moved to Perinatal HIV Research Unit as a Financial Assistant of the Unit. His main role at SABEF is to oversee the process of design and delivery of innovative youth projects and programmes to impact the lives of the young entrepreneurs for positive change.

 
Mr. Mogane’s primary focus is to introduce the concept of entrepreneurship in schools and promote it as the career opportunity for youth. He recently launched a national entrepreneurship program (Spend-A-Day-With-A-Platinum-Entrepreneur) at SABEF incubation centres (Small Business Infrastructure Hub) around the country.
  

Mr. Aubrey Mcetywa, National Coordinator - Membership started his career in the late nineties as a community builder, leading several development projects in Durban, Welkom and Cape Town. In 2001, he started his own textile business in Gugulethu and later formed a contractual cleaning services company called 3 Butlers Trading. Mr. Mcetywa is also the founding director of several other small businesses in the Western Cape including the franchise division of House of Juice - the producer of fresh juices and supplier to restaurants, hotels and take-aways throughout South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.

 
Mr. Mcetywa joined SABEF in 2009, initially as Provincial Director in the Western Cape before assuming his current role as the National Coordinator. His role within SABEF is to clearly define the purpose of the organization to the external and internal structures and to establish realistic goals and objectives consistent with that mission in a defined time frame within the organization’s capacity for implementation.

 

                                                                                                                                                                               
Mr. MacFarlane Moleli, Director - Events, Marketing and Communication has
extensive experience in the media and entertainment industry. He has worked in all
spheres of broadcasting, starting from community radio and slowly building his
profile to a leading news anchor on Africa’s first and only 24hour news channel.
His work includes being Master of Ceremony for leading corporations such as MTN,
Multichoice and Airports Company of South Africa to name but a few. Presently he
anchors Morning News Today on the e-News Channel.

At SABEF, Mr. Moleli is responsible for protecting and advancing SABEF's brand and
reputation, increasing awareness of the organisation's activities, and overseeing
external and internal communications functions. Mr. Moleli has an outstanding record of achievement in communication and media liaison and his arrival at  SABEF has further strengthened our corporate communication and public relations  functions.

  
Mrs. Eunice Raikane, Director - Compliance and Broad-based BEE Advisory Services has been active in business for nearly 15 years and is a Managing Member of Amantle Leadership and Sales Coach. Before founding her forward-thinking coaching company, Miss. Raikane held the position of a Project Manager at one of the major banks in South Africa. She is also a part time lecturer at the University of Johannesburg.
 

As a true success and leadership mentor, she has gained respect among local business leaders as a coach, through her unique ability of understanding and unraveling the complex dynamics of teams and helping organisations to comply, at the same time establishing high levels of accountability, focus, and commitment to achieve set targets and intended social and financial returns. This ability places her amongst the sought after coaches locally. At SABEF, Miss Raikane’s lead a team of advisors who assist companies of all sizes from listed corporations to SMMEs with their Broad-based BEE strategy, structuring and implementation.
